Going forward from today, every Friday we shall have a featured post that will speak more about the Allies & Nemesis that keep The Batman going. After all, what would our Dark Knight do if he did not have any crazy to take care of?
Now lets have a discussion about THE most iconic villains to have ever existed; The Joker! He is the most insane driving force behind the journey of Batman and unlike the other "bad guys", he does not want to kill The Batman, but instead push him towards breaking his one rule- "No Killing".
Over the years we have seen many returns of the "Clown prince of crime"and his devious way of getting at The Batman & breaking his soul. If we all could recall correctly, in the issue of "A death in the family", the Joker is seen brutally torturing the young Jason Todd (the first Robin) & continuously seeks to know the true identity/alter-ego of Batman and just when Jason is about to reveal the truth, The Joker snaps and whacks him hard with the crowbar revealing to us how he never really cares about the man behind the cowl, he would never want to end the fun for himself.
There have been multiple occasions (once he also infiltrated the Batcave & deduced that it was beneath the Wayne manor) where The Joker could have known the true identity of The Batman, but it is his sense of belonging to a symbol that makes him refuse the reality of The Dark Knight being just a mere human being.
This is the relationship that will always keep them going...from the iconic joke that makes The Batman laugh in "The Killing Joke" (Animated/Comics) to the helping hand The Dark Knight always extends to this menacing force called The Joker. These two are dependent on each other & they exist because of one another.
Stay tuned as next week we will pick up about The Batman, but guess what? The Batman is not always Bruce Wayne.
