I am odd biology graduate working in software company as project manager and have found myself in big mess.
Although I got the job through interview and have not left anything undone, I still need to learn much more to be able to know if my associates and subordinates are doing things efficiently and effectively.
I really don't know even the definition of the word "code" and everything we do as a team is data analysis, they do it. What I feel unfair about my role is that I stare at the work, not knowing what it is.
They use a software called SAS too often, some use R and others use python, most of them know all these languages and discuss among themselves. I think the Java is what everyone knows but only few use it and it appears it is not directly related to what we do, still it is used.
Then there is SQL and some other DBMS which are like bookshelves.
I feel odd not knowing what to speak, I would not be able to speak a word if one day I had to.
As dumb as a doll is, I read through websites and watch YouTube too much each day. I don't know if I started to know anything.
I understand that there are keywords in each languages and there are syntaxes.
I would be grateful if you could kindly help me understand how these multiple languages are interconnected and to understand what role they exactly play in data analysis.
I have read some articles here and understand there are people who can make me understand the ocean of programming.
I am thankful to you.
