One of the most valuable things about our communities is the healthy mix of experts and beginners. In a setting like this, it's highly valuable for experts to be able to say a little more about their experience with the topic, and for it to appear right next to their content. This makes it easier for everyone to put any reply into context of the person's expertise in the topic. Today, we are introducing Community Bios throughout Commonlounge and they look like this:
Now, whenever you contribute, you will be able to set a short 60 character bio relevant to the community telling others more about your experiences with that topic.
This bio is displayed right next to all your content in that community, and your default Commonlounge bio is used as a fallback in case it is not set. You can set a bio for every community you follow at your communities page. You can also edit any bio you have set so far (as well as your Commonlounge bio) in your Profile Settings page.
Other updates:
- Our landing page got a major update. Check it out here: commonlounge.com/is and let us know what you think!
- If someone hasn't set their profile picture, you will see their initials instead of a default profile picture (which was basically our logo.) If you haven't set up one for yourself yet, the good old Profile Settings page has an option to do so!
- On mobile, the full list of tags for a discussion is now available as a dropdown. So is the community sidebar on community page:
