It's not worth the time and effort, it will only make it harder to debug for you.
I believe you will need to implement a custom sorting function to do that.
I am also taking the exam in 9 hours and I think it's worth the extra 15 minutes to learn about a few data structures like pair/stack/tuple only because you can sort them very easily.
Many ZCO problems would benefit from:
because for pair/tuple it's really easy to sort and binary search by nth element. They are stored together in memory, and will probably be faster.
